Abstract | The study assessed the marketability of rabbit meat to the local households in San Juan, Batangas. Utilizing a quantitative descriptive study, the respondents were a total of 379 local households purposively selected in the municipality. The data was collected through the use of a researcher-made questionnaire. Data collected includes the respondents’ profile in terms of age, sex, average monthly income, and employment status. On the other hand, marketability of rabbit meat was assessed in terms of sensory features, healthiness, convenience, ethics, production process, and price. Challenges encountered in the consumption of rabbit meat was also assessed. The study determines the significant relationship between the profile of the respondents and the marketability of rabbit meat as well as the significant difference between the challenges encountered and the marketability of rabbit meat. Lastly, it identified the proposed program that may be utilized to boost the marketability of rabbit meat to the local households in the municipality. It is revealed that the majority of the respondents are 19 – 28 years old, females, have an average monthly income of Php 5,000 and below, and are unemployed. It found out that the respondents agreed that sensory features, healthiness, convenience, ethics, production process, and price influence the marketability of rabbit meat. It is also found out that age was the most significant among the profile of the respondents in relation to the marketability of rabbit meat, while average monthly income has no significance at all. It is also noted that the respondents agreed that there are challenges in consuming rabbit meat and it has a significant difference on its marketability. |
