A Study on IoT and Big Data for Irrigation Automation and Yield Optimization

Author(s) Amitabh
Country India
Abstract The integration of IoT (Internet of Things) and Big Data in irrigation automation and yield optimization is transforming modern agriculture by enabling precision farming. IoT-powered smart sensors monitor real-time soil moisture, temperature, humidity, and weather conditions, ensuring optimal water usage. These sensors transmit data to cloud-based platforms, where Big Data analytics processes vast amounts of information to generate actionable insights. AI-driven algorithms analyze historical patterns and predict irrigation needs, reducing water wastage and improving crop health. By automating irrigation based on real-time data, farmers can enhance yield quality, resource efficiency, and sustainability, leading to higher productivity and lower operational costs.
